These CEOs Nominated Themselves
A man with a white beard at window #1 of a local Wendy’s greets every customer with a hearty and warm “Hello! How are you?”
Further south along the Delaware coast, a young woman dances and sings while taking orders in the Chick-fil-A car line.
Far to the north, someone stocking shelves at Trader Joe’s spots a puzzled customer and asks the customer if they need help finding something.
Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A, and Trader Joe’s corporate managers don’t require these extra little engaging acts. Sure, Chic-fil-A prefers that each “thank you” gets a “My pleasure” reply, but they don’t ask for dancing and singing. Each of these people just decided to do it. Maybe it makes them happy to help others. Perhaps these behaviors help them to pass the time. Maybe they saw someone else do this and liked what they saw, so they are trying it too. No matter the reason, they decided to add a little extra.
Each one of these individuals nominated themselves for the role of CEO—Chief Experience Officer, that is. You can become a CEO too. At any time, anywhere, we can add a little extra zing to our interactions.
