2-3 Minutes Can Change EVERYTHING!

You look around the room, and people are glassy-eyed. Or staring out the window longingly at the beautiful Spring day. The group has important topics on the agenda, but no one’s hearts seem to be into it. Come to think of it, your bum is a little sore, too, and your ankles are cold.

Sitting is truly tiring. Focused thinking makes people fatigued.

What if you could energize, refocus, and refresh the group with a special activity? “Oh no!” You might be thinking, “How can I do that with a super-packed agenda?”

You can inject some energy in just minutes!

I’ve been testing some new material in my virtual and online programs. I talk about new research on movement and thought, like Amy Cuddy’s work on power poses. And movement can improve cognition, especially when someone feels weary.

I love sharing this research, and a happy by-product is that I can invite everyone to get up out of their seats to stretch and walk around a bit.

When I ask people how they feel after a surprise walk and stretch mid-program, they say things like: engaged, awake, sunny, more agile, relaxed, optimistic, happier, and alive!

Not a bad return for 2-3 minutes!

The next time you feel a group’s energy wane, see if you can inject a little physical movement into your program. Not only will your participants thank you, but you might also see better conversations, solutions, and questions from the group.
